Varmints For Fun

Hey John,
I figured I would share a few pictures with ya.  My main varmint guns are an older Remington 722 in .222 with a Burris 3x9x40 and a Remington 700 VLS .22-250 with a Burris Signature 6x24x50, plus a few .22 rifles,  They get the job done pretty well.  I think its a good thing that I was gone for 5 years becasuse i swear they were going extinct here...ha  I try to do all my shooting with my own reloads.

Hello John, Eric McClenathan from Cedar Rapids Iowa here. I just got back from my annual prairie dog shoot in Wood South Dakota.  I used my .222 with Remington 50 grain Hollow Points behind 22 grains of AA2015 It was a lot of good shooting.   Enjoy the Pics

John,
I first wanted to thank you for all your help with my question on the 221 Fireball. I went out chuck hunting on July 4th and wanted to send you some pictures of four chuck's I shot. My gun is a 221 fireball made from Virgin Valley with a 20" Shilen barrel, with a 6 to 20 powered Nikon Monarch scope with Burris rings. I shoot a 50gr V-Max which I moly coat myself. My load is 14.5 grs IMR 4227 with a Fed Match 205 primer. Most of my shots are around 150yds to 240yds on the property where I'm hunting. These four chuck's came out into the grass field after a rain storm and the shooting was great. Notice my tripod, my father is a machinist, we purchased a good camera tripod, then custom made the top head to hold my fireball. It works great and I have killed many chuck's with this set up. The problem is I'm not allowed to shoot the center fire where I hunt and it's a little loud. I still shoot it anyway and have tremendous luck with this gun. I thought you would like to see these pictures of this hunt. I hunt in Pennsylvania not far from my home. Thanks again for the advice and stay in touch, and let me know how you liked the pictures. Scott Willoughby

Hello,
I like your web site. Here are some pics from our last hunt in Russell Co in Southwest Virginia. I hope you like the pics. The pic of the farm to the tree line in back was 904yrds. It was a fun day of shooting.
The longest to date is 811yrds it was done on this hunt by Corbin 6mm284. My brother with his 6mm imp ran him in circles. It seems now we are looking for longer shots.

Top to Bottom: 700 22 cheeta, 700 6mm, Browning 22-250, 700 6mm Imp,
Savage 243, 700 6mm-284 and Savage 204

Thanks , Mark

Some Charles City, VA bean field terrorists!

#230 & 234 are same hog

We are fond of "headaches"

The hogs were shot with a .243 Ackley Improved-87gr V-Max:  We call that gun
Thumper.  All of our guns have names, they are kinda like our "other
children."

Pete is a tight neck 300 Win Mag-Rem 700 w/Davidson sleeve-1.5 oz Jewell
trigger-Leupold Mark 4-Harrel muzzle break-30" Hart barrel-McMillan Tooley
MBR stock-all smithed by Dan Dowling who hails from Palisade, CO.  It used
to be a 1000 yard gun but my buddy made it into a LR varmint rig.  We use 75
grains of H-4831sc and either Berger 210 VLD's or 200 Sierra Game Kings.
The Berger's launch at 3085 fps.

RePete is a clone of the above except with a Leupold 24x benchrest scope and
won the 2000 IBS 1000 yard National Championship match in Light Gun Overall
at Hawks Ridge in Ferguson, NC.  My name is David Wheeler  Check out this
