Oxbow Farm Long Range Shoot

Well I had a few of my fellow groundhog /long range shooters together on September 10, 2005 to have a fun shoot at long range. We set steel and clay targets out at 500 and 700 yards. It was very interesting to see how well everyone had their guns tuned for long range shooting. If you had your drop chart pretty close it didn't take long to hit your target. It was nice to shoot and spot for others at these targets because you would get instant reaction of the target, plus reaction from the shooters. The heat and mirage was really bad especially at the 700 yard line. It was nice to just sit and talk guns, calibers, drop charts, and etc. It got a little hot and shade was at a premium! Most guns were built and stocked  by Richard Franklin of Richard's Custom Rifles. I think Richard drew a smile at how well his rifles were doing! I think everyone had a good time and I guess we just might have to do it again in the spring so we can give those fuzzy little groundhogs a hard time! A big thanks to Chris Wright who did most of the set up for the shoot, without him the event wouldn't have gotten off. Now he can concentrate on getting is wife to download that new little varmint hunter!
